San Francisco police believe that one man attacked two women last night -- the first with a knife and the second with a hammer -- at a home in the 1700 block of 20th Avenue.

The first victim is an Asian female, approximately 70 years of age. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. She remains in critical condition this morning.

The second victim was reportedly delivering Chinese take out to the home, possibly interrupting the original alleged assault. The suspect then attacked the delivery woman with a hammer, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene and is still outstanding. Police are looking for an Asian male and they are referring to the case as a home invasion. Drawers in the home were rifled, apparently. The motive is unknown at this time.

The incident is being investigated by the San Francisco Police - Criminal Investigation Unit. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the SFPD: Anonymous Tip Line at. 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip at "TIP411" include SFPD in the opening of the text message.
