Phil Ting likes to think he is nothing like Julian Assange. He's much nicer.

    Is Phil Ting Julian Assange?

That is a question the likes of Bill O'Reilly would love to ask if the assessor-recorder wins his bid to become the next mayor of San Francisco.

And it's one the San Francisco Examiner was not shy to ask right now. The reason behind the strange comparison by the paper owned by Philip Anschutz has to do with some "interesting documetns" that have been floating around the city.

Recently some paperwork was released into the public sphere that shined a "spotlight on insider business at San Francisco City Hall."

Included in this list of documents was an SFMTA internal poll on a street bond measure set for the November ballot.

The newspaper did its homework and discovered that the doucments were showing up on a website owned by Ting.

When Ting's campaign manager was asked about the site, Eric Jaye said more documents were coming.

As for the Julian Assange and WikiLeaks comparison?

“He’s nothing like Julian Assange,” Jaye told the Examiner. “He’s nicer and more polite.”
