San Jose-Campbell Turf War Nears End

Two cities plan to sign truce Tuesday evening

The turf war between San Jose and Campbell is near an end. The councils in both cities will vote Tuesday night to approve a truce, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

At stake, a 103-acre piece of land known as Cambrian 36. It is an unincorporated part of Santa Clara County.

The 1,000 or so people who live in the area want to be part of Campbell. However, the county says the land is technically a part of San Jose.

The Merc reports the two cities have come up with a 40-year-deal. Campbell will get the land known as Cambrian 36 and San Jose will get $200,000 per year over the next five years to make up for lost tax revenue.

After that, the two sides will meet to renegoitate tax revenues. Meetings will happen every five years over the next 40.

Campbell and San Jose have been fighting over Cambrian 36 for the past six years.
