San Jose Construction Worker Killed in Fall

Man was unloading sheetrock when he fell about three stories

A worker fell to his death at a construction site in San Jose Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The fall was reported at 12:08 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra Road and North Capitol Avenue, San Jose police Officer Albert Morales said.

The 48-year-old man, an employee of San Jose-based Foundation Building Materials, was unloading sheetrock and fell about three stories, California Division of Occupational Safety and Health spokesman Greg Siggins said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Morales said.

Cal/OSHA records from the past 10 years show Foundation Building Materials did not have any citations. Cal/OSHA also is investigating the death.
