San Jose Duplex Fire Sparks Fire Outage

About 300 people in a San Jose neighborhood woke up in the dark Wednesday morning after two-alarm fire ripped through a duplex near an elementary school.

Fire Capt. Fernando Munoz said the fire was reported 2:15 a.m. on Azucar Avenue, located near Edenvale Elementary School, and firefighters had it under control at about 5 a.m.

Munoz said there was a miscommunication about the address of the fire at first, and the initial call came in as a medical emergency, not a fire.

No injuries were injured, and there were eight people displaced, he said.

The flames knocked down power lines, and PG&E officials worked to fix the problem by 7 a.m.
