San Jose High School Track Coach Arrested for Sexual Relationship with Students: Police

A high school track coach is in jail for allegedly having a sexual relationship with two students, police said.

Enoch Garcia was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of two counts of sexual intercourse with a minor and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, according to police. Garcia, 21, is an assistant track coach at Mt. Pleasant High School in San Jose.

Police said a district employee notified them on Monday about a possible inappropriate relationship between a student and Garcia. Detectives arrested Garcia the following day after interviewing the involved parties.

Garcia is being held at Santa Clara County Jail.

Investigators said Garcia had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and 14-year-old student. Both students were enrolled at Mt. Pleasant High School.

"I really hope this school takes the allegations seriously, whatever they may be, because we're out here for the girls and we want to make sure they're safe," parent Rose Naranjo said.

Tuesday's arrest is the second in the East Side Union High School District in the last two months over similar allegations.

In February, police arrested Jose Gonzalez, an interim vice principal at James Lick High School for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old students.

The district was not available for comment on Thursday.
