Man Caught Scaling Fence at San Jose International Airport

A man who scaled a fence at Mineta San José International Airport on Thursday night was "detected and deterred" by a private security guard, an airport spokeswoman said Friday.

“We did have an unauthorized male scale a section of fence line just before midnight last night,” Rosemary Barnes said in an email to NBC Bay Area. “Our layers of security led to the successful apprehension of this individual.”

The man, 39, was arrested on misdemeanor trespassing charges, authorities said.

Sources say the man injured his ankle while jumping the fence.

Back in April, a teenager successfully climbed over a barbed-wire fence at the airport then stowed away aboard a Hawaiian Airlines flight to Maui, hiding in the wheel well of a Boeing 767. The boy survived.
