San Jose Man Wanted on Suspicion of Murder Surrenders to Police

A San Jose man suspected of murder has turned himself over to police.

Louie Garza walked into the San Jose Police Department's information center Thursday afternoon and self-surrendered, police said.

Garza, 55, was booked into jail for an arrest warrant charging him with the May 8 murder of 46-year-old Ralph Gomez.

The motive behind the killing remains under investigation.

Gomez was the city's 14th homicide of 2013.

Police on May 8 received a report at 12:13 p.m. of a male shot in the 2900 block of Westboro Drive in East San Jose.

Upon arrival, officers located a male that had been shot at least once. The victim, later identified as Gomez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
