Making him the 16th homicide victim this year, a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed late Saturday night in San Jose, police reported.

In a statement, Sgt. Jason Dwyer said the teen was pronounced dead at 12:06 a.m. Sunday. He and another man were shot several minutes before in the 1600 block of Virginia Avenue.

The second victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, police said. Dwyer said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

The suspects fled and remain at-large.

No more information was immediately available.
