San Jose Police Investigating Apparent Assault Near Communications Hill

An assault captured by a security camera is adding to the list of complaints from people who live near San Jose's Communications Hill.

Complaints about young people gathering at the popular spot at night and doing drugs has the city eyeing a curfew for the area, but one couple who lives nearby is demanding police patrols after they say they were attacked by teenagers.

San Jose police confirm they are investigating what's seen on the surveillance video: Donald Fareed and his wife say, last week, they warned some teens they would be ticketed if they parked on the street near their home. Moments later, Fareed and his wife were apparently knocked to the ground, but the assailants cannot be seen.

Another video camera recorded the assault itself, but Fareed’s attorney is advising him not to release it.

No arrests have been made, police said.
