San Jose Police Nab Alleged Kidnapping and Carjacking Suspect, Seek Help from Victims and Witnesses

San Jose police are asking for help to solve an alleged kidnapping and carjacking that occurred Friday.

Surveillance video shows that a suspect – running from left to right and described as a Latino man in his 20s – is being chased by people after he attempted to kidnap a child.

The suspect then tried to carjack a white vehicle but the motorist, refusing to cooperate, drove off with the man clinging to the car’s window, the video shows,

As responding officers swarmed the area, the man can be seen falling off from the car and fleeing on foot.

Police believe that the man, who acted "bizzarely" and may have been on drugs, tried to kidnap two different children Friday afternoon – one at Cahalan Park and another as he ran from the scene.

The man, who also failed at another carjacking attempt, was spotted by officers, chased and nabbed, police said.

However, in the resulting confusion, police believe victims and witnesses fled. However, investigators are now urging them to come forward.

Police expressed hope that victims will respond to the chilling video by helping investigators make the arrest stick.

People with information about the incident can call the San Jose Police Department at 408-277-8900.
