San Jose Police in Standoff With Suspected Weapons Felon

For the second consecutive day, San Jose police were involved in a long standoff with a suspect who barricaded himself in a home.

The department's Covert Response Unit served a felony arrest warrant about 10:40 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Flemming Avenue in the East San Jose foothills, police said. The suspect barricaded himself in the home and refused to come out, and the scene was still active late Thursday night.

The unidentified suspect has a felony warrant for weapons charges, police said. The San Jose Police MERGE (SWAT) unit also responded to the scene and was attempting to persuade the suspect to peacefully surrender.

No injuries were reported. Police said there were other people inside the home initially, but those people came out, and the suspect is the only person left in the house.

No further details were available.

On Wednesday, police were involved in a nearly 10-hour standoff with a robbery suspect in the 1800 block of Clarice Drive in East San Jose. In that case, police arrested the suspect.
