“We Will Be Out in Force”: SJPD on Alert for Chris Brown Concert

San Jose police were out in force Friday night while singer Chris Brown took the stage at the SAP Center.

Brown's performance is less than two months after a shooting at a San Jose nightclub while he was on stage.

"If they're coming to San Jose to cause problems we will be out in force," SJPD spokesman Albert Morales said of those attending the concert.

Morales said every special unit in the department, including the SWAT team, were out patrolling street and parking lots around the SAP Center.

On January 11, five people were shot at Fiesta Nightclub around 1 a.m. during a "Capricorn Bash" hosted by Brown. He was performing his hit "Loyal" when shots were fired in the crowd. The victims were all treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital and survived.

Police also had undercover cops inside the SAP Center and back stage.

San Jose Police and Alcohol Beverage Control suspended Fiesta Nightclub's entertainment and liquor licenses until March 16 following the Jan. 11 incident. The ABC will keep Fiesta on probation for two years.

It is unclear whether Fiesta will reopen. A Facebook page for the venue appears to have been merged with a food truck named Fiesta and the website no longer directs to a page that represents the business.
