AT&T Park may soon be frozen over.

Skates and sticks could take over the grass and field of the San Francisco Giants, as the team is in talks with the San Jose Sharks to bring an outdoor professional hockey game to the ballpark, according to reports.

The game would be part of the NHL's vastly-popular Stadium Series, in which hockey teams have suited up to play outdoor games in stadiums throughout the United States and Canada.

Not cold enough? Southern California's already done it: Dodger Stadium hosted a game earlier this season.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that the NHL is scouting out AT&T Park as well as the 49ers' new home at Levi's Stadium as potential sites for another outdoor game.

This year, the NHL had six outdoor games, the newspaper reported. A game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings drew 105,491 people to Michigan Stadium.

The Sharks are aiming for a game next year, and are in a "favorable position," team brass said.

Giants ownership is fully behind the idea.
