San Jose State University Looking for New Football Coach

A national search is in the works to replace Ron Caragher, the former head football coach at San Jose State University, Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier told the campus community.

Caragher led the Spartans to a 19-30 record during his four years at the helm, including a 4-8 mark this fall.

"I want to thank Coach Caragher for his hard work and commitment to San Jose State football these past four years," Bleymair said in an announcement. "A search for a new head coach will begin immediately."

In San Jose State's only trip to the postseason during Caragher's tenure, the Spartans were able to clinch a berth and a subsequent win in the 2015 AutoNation Cure Bowl, but the squad's final season record sat below .500 at 6-7.

The Spartans finished 3-9 in 2014 and an even 6-6 in Caragher's first year on the San Jose State sideline.
