A 3-year-old boy found wandering the streets of San Jose Thursday morning safely made it home thanks to an alert driver and a woman on her morning walk.

Police received 911 calls around 7:44 a.m. reporting a young boy was standing alone and crying on the street corner of Silver Creek Road and Capitol Expressway in South San Jose.

Officer Jose Garcia said one person driving by and a pedestrian stopped to help calm the boy.

The woman on foot recognized the young boy and was able to tell police where he lived.

About a half hour later police reunited the boy with his family.

The boy's mother told them he must have made his way outside by unlocking the front door.

Officers investigated and said they found no signs of foul play or negligence.
