San Jose Teen Shot While Checking Car Alarm

A 15-year-old girl woke up Tuesday morning to hear a car alarm going off, and then wound up injured with sprayed bullet fragments, according to San Jose police.

Officers received multiple calls of shots fired just before 5 a.m. in the 1900 block of Stowe Avenue in east San Jose, police said.

The girl told officers that she heard her alarm going off and went out to investigate. She saw four or five people around her car. Just then, police said, a suspect drove by and opened fire.

The girl was hit by some fragments, but police said no one else was injured.

Police said she was treated and released at the scene.
