Hillside Elementary School in San Leandro is closed on Thursday after a young man was shot Wednesday night, according to Alameda County sheriff's deputies.  But it is expected to re-open on Friday.

The man, about 18 or 19 years old,  was shot about 8:45 p.m.

Deputies found him in the grass at the edge of campus bleeding. He died later at the hospital.

Investigators are still trying to find out what happened. Investigators are looking into whether the shooting was the result of a dispute over a card or dice game.

The campus was closed as part of the investigation.

So far, there are no arrests.

This is the first homicide of the year in unincorporated Alameda County.
