San Rafael Police Screen 795 Cars at Checkpoint, Arrest 1 Person For DUI

Three other drivers were cited or arrested for different reasons, but none of them were found to be under the influence.

Police screened 795 vehicles at a DUI checkpoint in San Rafael Saturday night, arresting one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication.

The checkpoint was located at Manual T. Freitas Parkway and Las Gallinas Avenue from 6 to 11:30 p.m.

The driver arrested was also allegedly in possession of suspected methamphetamine, according to police.

Three other drivers were cited or arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, or driving on a suspended or revoked license.

A total of seven citations were also issued, according to police.

The checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
