San Ramon Woman Surprises Robbers, Gets Punched

A San Ramon woman got a rude welcome home Tuesday when she walked in on people robbing her home on Deerhill Drive.

Police described a frightening scene after the victim surprised the burglars around 2 p.m.  There was some kind of struggle and the woman was punched in the face by one of the robbers before they ran out and drove away in an SUV.

Police made quick work following her frantic 911 call, and put out a call to all area police agencies to be on the look out for a green Ford Explorer.

It didn't take long before Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the vehicle on Interstate 680 and pulled it over in Walnut Creek.

Police brought the victim to the Walnut Creek location where they say she was able to positively identify the suspects who were promptly cuffed and booked in the Martinez jail.

Police say they found stolen property in the Explorer.

The suspects, Jonathan Botterff, of Pleasanton, and Steven Gill, of Clayton,  face charges of strong arm robbery and possession of stolen property.
