Santa Clara County Correctional Deputy Arrested on Drug Charges, Harboring Criminals

A Santa clara County correctional deputy was arrested this week after officers said he was allowing "known criminals" to live at his home and supplying him with illegal drugs.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said Juan Carillo, 48, of San Jose was arrested Monday in connection with being under the influence of controlled substance and being in possession of a controlled substance.

Carrillo has been with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years and is currently being held on $121,000 bail. He has been placed on administrative leave.

While a search warrant was being served, three others were also arrested. They include:

  • Bonifascio Limon, 23, of San Jose,  arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm; a felon in possession of ammunition; possession of a controlled substance; resisting arrest; and parole violation. He currently has no bail.
  • Michael Torres, 25, of San Jose, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and probation violation. He currently has no bail.
  •  Maria Rivera, 28, of San Jose, was arrested for being under the influence of controlled substance, and being in possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently being held on $65,000 bail.
