Santa Clara Judge Confirmed by Senate

The United States Senate confirmed President Obama's nomination of Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Edward J. Davila to serve as a district judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, a press release stated today.

Judge Davila is a Palo Alto native, and was appointed to the state court bench in 2001 by Gov. Gray Davis.

Davila received his B.A. from San Diego State University in 1976, and his J.D. from the University of California before going on to become a deputy public defender for Santa Clara County. Avila was also once president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association and the Santa Clara County La Raze Lawyers.

Judge Avila was confirmed by a vote of 93-0.
