Santa Clara University Produces Film to End Sexual Assaults on Campus

Santa Clara University has produced a film that it will use to help stop sexual assaults on campus.

The film, "Can't Thread a Moving Needle," premieres on campus Friday and is based on the stories of survivors. The movie will also be shown to all incoming freshmen.

"The new laws in the state of California are forcing you to understand that you have to get an affirmative yet -- it's not the absence of anything -- it's let's hear that yes," said Mike Whalen, a professor at Santa Clara University and co-director of the film.

Santa Clara University professor and co-director Barbara Means Fraser said the film shatters the secrecy of rape.

"It gives you a better sense of what it means for someone who has been raped," Fraser said. "And what kind of effect it has had on their lives."
