Santa Cruz Gang Attacks Tourists: Police

Police have arrested four Santa Cruz gang members on charges they beat up tourists after mistaking them for rival gang members, and are now looking for fifth suspect.

The fight happened on April 5, when five gang members went up to tourists and asked them where they were from.

One of the four visitors from Sonoma County was wearing a red 49ers jersey. Police say the tourists denied gang affiliation, but they were beaten up anyway.

The fight broke up when police arrived. Officers say the visitors were hurt and needed stitches, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Officers arrested Keith Diaz Smutzer on Saturday. In the preceding four weeks, they arrested Adriana Garibay Figueroa, Jesus Villa and Angel Silva in connection to the attack.
