Santa Rosa Protesters March for Andy Lopez, 8th Grader Shot By Police While Holding BB Gun

Dozens of protesters marched through Santa Rosa Monday morning on behalf of teenager Andy Lopez.

The eighth grader was killed last October by a sheriff's deputy who mistook his BB gun for an assault rifle.

The activists complain the Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch still has not released her investigation into what happened, and they question whether her campaign for re-election is a factor.

In January, Ravitch acknowledged the receipt of the report late this afternoon at the same time Santa Rosa police announced the investigation was completed.

"It is time for my staff to begin the process of thoroughly reviewing and considering all the facts and circumstances within the context of the guiding legal principles," Ravitch said in a news release.

Last week, Lopez supporters asked State Attorney General Kamala Harris for an independent investigation into Lopez's death.
