Search for Sierra Lamar to Continue Saturday

Alex Smith and several 49ers will join the search for the missing girl.

It's been exactly three weeks since Sierra Lamar disappeared.

In that time, investigators have received over 1,000 tips. Law enforcement and volunteers have put in hundreds of man hours searching several miles around Morgan Hill.

And yet, no one, except for her alleged abductor, has any idea where she is located. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office believes that someone most likely kidnapped the 15-year-old girl before school three Fridays ago.

Thursday the search and rescue unit canvassed some neighborhoods and fields in San Martin and Gilroy, the first time law enforcement took their search south of Morgan Hill.

While searchers were following up on tips phoned in and emailed to investigators,  this was mostly just a logical extension of the search area.

It doesn't appear anything of significance came out of Thursday's effort. Outside of Lamar's cell phone, purse and clothes found early on, investigators still don't have any clues as to her whereabouts.

Nor do they have a person of interest. You'd think investigators would be frustrated.

"Frustrated is not a word we're using," Jose Cardoza with the Santa Clara Sheriff's Office said. "Our primary goal is to bring her home safely and alive."

The Klaaskids Foundation is trying to make that happen. Saturday the non-profit organization will coordinate another volunteer search out of Burnett Elementary School, located at 85 Tilton Ave. in Morgan Hill.

Registration is between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.  You must be at least 18-years-old to volunteer. Dress for the elements, for example long pants, sturdy shoes, etc.,

49ers QB Alex Smith has said he, along with some of his teammates, will participate in Saturday's search.

This will be the second time Smith has helped looked for Lamar.
