Smoking cigarettes in a Sebastopol apartment is not okay but weed smokers have nothing to worry about -- as long as they are using the green stuff for medical purposes.

A new measure passed by the Sebastapol City Council Tuesday will amend a law passed last July that bans smoking cigarettes in apartment complexes.

The amendment will allow for medical marijuana smokers to be exempt from the law that will require all new apartment leases to have specific no smoking language in them and a ban on current renters from smoking within 14 months.

The measure is aimed at curbing second hand smoke in the city.

The city already prohibits smoking in office buildings, restaurants, retail stores, public parks and bars.
