Several Dogs Rescued from Oakland House Fire

A total of 17 dogs are in safe keeping after being rescued from an Oakland house fire Saturday night, a fire official said.

The blaze broke out in a single family home near 108th Avenue and Myers Street, Oakland Fire Department Battalion Chief Coy Justice said.

A few of the dogs did not survive the fire, Coy said. The exact number of canine fatalities was not disclosed.

The cause of the blaze is unknown and further information was not available at the time.
