A man was shot while pumping gas at a Chevron gas station in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood in broad daylight this morning, a police spokesman said.

The suspect left the station in a stolen vehicle that the police are dusting for fingerprints now (right).

The shooting occurred around 10 a.m. at the Chevron station located at 2252 Lincoln Ave., according to police Sgt. Jason Dwyer.

Dwyer said a man was pumping gas in his car when another man approached him, produced a handgun and fired at least one round, striking the victim.

The victim, who appears to be in his 30s, was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. His condition was not immediately available.

The suspect fled afterward in a vehicle, Dwyer said. The motive for the shooting is under investigation, according to Dwyer, who said it might have been during a robbery.
