    A shooting victim, who sources say Stanislav Petrov dropped off at a hospital, died on Wednesday, NBC Bay Area has learned. (Published Thursday, April 7, 2016)

    A shooting victim, who sources say Stanislav Petrov dropped off at a hospital, died on Wednesday, NBC Bay Area has learned.

    Authorities are not releasing the victim's name.

    The shooting happened before a raid on Friday in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley.

    Sources told NBC Bay Area that the federal government was conducting some kind of gun investigation involving Petrov and arrested him after finding a weapon.

    The FBI and police are raiding a San Francisco home with links to Stanislav Petrov, sources confirm to NBC Bay Area. The 29-year-old is an auto-theft suspect who was severely beaten by Alameda County Sheriff's Office deputies, which triggered an investigation into police use of force. Laura Malpert reports.

    Petrov is the man who was caught on camera being beaten by Alameda County deputies in November following a police chase across the Bay Bridge.

    Petrov remains in jail.
