Sierra LaMar Searches Scaled Back

Searches will continue on weekends and volunteers are alway both needed and welcome

Sierra LaMar search organizers have announced they are going to scale back weekly searches for the missing teenager from Morgan Hill to one search a week.

They are suspending the Wednesday volunteer searches as of today, according to The KlaasKids Foundation's Marc Klass.

About 30 people showed up today for the final Wednesday search. They did not find anything of significance today, according to the search center.

Klass said volunteers are still needed on Saturdays. The search center will open at 8 a.m. at Burnett Elementary on Tilton Road in Morgan Hill.

You have to be 18 years old and have a valid ID.

Sierra's dad Steve LaMar said it is getting harder to find areas that still need to be searched. He said they will now use the time during the week to better plan for the Saturday searches.

Sierra LaMar was last seen getting ready for high school on Friday, March 16.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department has declared the case a homicide.

Earlier this summer Antolin Garcia Torres was arrested and charged with murder, with a special circumstance of kidnapping.
