Slain Placer County Sheriff's Deputy Remembered at Memorial

The brother of a deputy killed in a bloody Northern California chase said at a memorial service Tuesday he forgives the couple charged in the shootings but is also praying for justice.

Placer County sheriff's detective Michael Davis Jr. was remembered by relatives and thousands of law enforcement officials from across the state and relatives. His brother Jason Davis, a sergeant with Placer County, also attended.

Michael Davis Jr. was remembered as a husband, father, coach, friend and 49ers fan. But mostly, colleagues remembered him for his dedication as a peace officer at a packed service at the Adventure Christian Church in Roseville, KCRA-TV reported.

"I forgive you for taking my hero from us because of your senseless acts of violence,'' Davis said.

Michael Davis Jr. was killed during a six-hour shooting rampage through Sacramento and Placer Counties on Oct. 24.

The killing spree began when Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte allegedly shot Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver when he approached a car where the man was arguing with his wife.

Authorities say Monroy-Bracamonte later shot two Placer County deputies, killing Davis and wounding his partner. A man who resisted surrendering his keys during a carjacking was also wounded.
