Small Quake Rattles Oakland Area

A small earthquake shook the East Bay area around 3:10 a.m. Sunday. The quake was centered about 11 miles outside of Oakland and registered with a magnitude of 3.2.

The USGS reports the earthquake had a depth of 5.3 miles.

An aftershock with a magnitude of 2.4 was reported in the same location just before 3:20 a.m.

The aftershock had a depth of 4.1 miles, the USGS said.
