Sneaker Wave Warning for Bay Area Beaches

Beach conditions were hazardous on Monday along the coast from Sonoma County to Monterey County, according to the National Weather Service.

The potential for hazards will last until Monday evening, forecasters said.

โ€œAll us moms decided the waves are just too big and we need to keep the kids out of the water,โ€ said Piper Sundquist, of Soquel. โ€œSo we said they can only play on the sand, and they were sad, but we said โ€˜sorry.โ€™โ€

Strong rip currents, sneaker waves and large shore breaks are possible on south and southwest facing beaches, including Sonoma Coast State Park beaches and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Beach.
