The Sonoma Humane Society and Animal Place, a sanctuary for ex-farm animals, are looking for folks who might want a bird or two.

The hens are in need of homes following the closure of their Chico egg farm, according to SF Weekly.

Hens between 8 and 12 months old can be adopted for as little as $5 a bird, but only to qualified applicants who already have a backyard flock with a proven "predator strategy."
