South Bay Fire Prompts Shelter In-Place Warning

San Jose firefighters battling a fire in a warehouse that had been sending thick columns of smoke into the air now have the blaze under control.

Fire officials say about 70 firefighters responded to the fire that broke out about 2 p.m. Saturday in the commercial building in an industrial area near Interstate 280 and Highway 101.

The gutted warehouse is home to several businesses.

No injuries have been reported, but officials had issued a "shelter-in-place" warning for a half-mile area south of 1700 block of San Jose's Rogers Avenue. That warning has now been lifted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
