San Jose Pubs Raise Over $25,000 for Fallen Officer Michael Johnson

Two pubs in the South Bay raised at least $25,000 for the family of fallen San Jose Police Officer Michael Johnson.

As of Thursday evening , Britannia Arms pubs in both downtown San Jose and Almaden Valley raised more tan $25,000, but that amount could go higher as fundraising numbers weren't crunched by early Friday.

Britannia Arms is a favorite gathering spot for San Jose police and firefighters, so members of both departments came out to contribute Johnson's family at $20 a ticket. The pubs also hosted silent auctions with items signed by the San Jose Sharks.

These fundraisers follow the memorial to honor Johnson’s life on Thursday which over 8,000 people attended, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Though the memorial is over, many in the South Bay are continuing to pay their respects to Johnson. On Friday, San Jose City Hall was lit up in blue in Johnson’s memory.
