South San Jose Townhouse Fire Leaves Families Homeless

Some San Jose families are now homeless after fire swept through their townhomes Thursday.

It happened inside a housing complex in South San Jose in the 1500 block of Musetta Court, just east of U.S. Highway 101.

The flames were visible from several blocks away and appeared to be coming from the backyard patios of two of the units.

No one was home at either place, but firefighters had to evacuate the other four townhomes in the building.

“They had a hard time getting access due to a lot of kids and folks here in the parking lot,” fire Capt. Cleo Doss said. “But once they got the supply line down…they were able to knock it down pretty quick.”

Two units burned, and a third has smoke damage.

No one was injured in the fire, which remains under investigation.
