SpaceX to Launch Rocket into Space, Land it in Ocean

SpaceX plans to launch a rocket into space, and then try to land it on a barge in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

In a typical launch, the lower portion of the rocket detaches and ends up crashing into the ocean. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said he is trying to salvage that most expensive part of the rocket and make it reusable.

The platform for the landing is 300-feet long by 170-feet wide.

The launch is scheduled for Jan. 6. and Musk said his team has a 50 percent chance of sticking the landing.
