A freeze warning is in effect for much of the Bay Area Friday night, but it’s possible that the South Bay could be hit hard.
Temperatures this weekend will feel like single digits, forcing residents to bundle up if they dare to walk outside. For some, staying warm could save their lives.
Warming centers are set to open in a number of South Bay cities, including Morgan Hill, an area that is likely to feel the brunt of the chill.
At San Jose's Christmas in the Park, it looks like the holidays and on Friday it felt like it.
“I'm cold right now and it's not that cold – and I'm freezing,” Taylor Stiddard said.
This, as business owners remain optimistic that not everyone will stay home, as they count down to Christmas.
“We're prepared, some of customers are pretty tough they can handle it,” said Rosy Bergin, the owner of Rosy’s.
PG&E reminded customers to think smart when fighting the freeze:
- Place space heaters on hard surfaces
- Turn off heaters when leaving a room
- Never use a stove or oven for heat
- Ensure fireplace flue is open
