A storm system that dropped a little rain on the San Francisco Bay Area earlier this week is expected to return much stronger Thursday.
The National Weather Service says rainfall totals ranging from a half-inch to 1.5 inches are expected across the region.
With a significant weather system approaching the Central Coast, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Soberanes fire burn area Thursday afternoon into Friday morning. The fire charred 206 square miles in the scenic coastal mountains north of Big Sur.
Rain will likely impact the Thursday afternoon Bay Area commute and continue into Friday morning.
The storm system from the north is then predicted to make its way through the Southern California region Thursday evening.
It's too early to tell if California, now on a six-year drought, will see a wet winter.
