String of Car Fires Near San Jose-Campbell Border Continues

Fire crews are investigating a rash of new possible arson car fires that broke out in the South Bay over the past few days.

The latest incidents were reported late Tuesday when crews responded to the 1200 block of Caspian Sea Drive in San Jose at about 7:20 p.m. About an hour later, San Jose firefighters reported another incident on the 1900 block of Willow Way.

The pair of possible arson incidents follow a trio of fires reported late Monday and early Tuesday morning on Bascom Avenue near the San Jose-Campbell border.

Just last week, there were similar car fires near the area.

The early Tuesday fire happened on the 1500 block of South Bascom Avenue, the same location as another car fire last week.

It caught fire in the parking lot of the River Walk Apartment Complex at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The heat from this fire melted some of the window panels.

Another fire happened at 1550 South Bascom Avenue at around 12:20 a.m Tuesday.

The first blaze happened at 2105 South Bascom Avenue in Campbell at around 10:20 p.m. Monday night. In that fire, a minivan was fully engulfed by flames and destroyed.

All three of last night's fires happened within roughly one mile of each other.

Fire investigators do know if the three overnight fires are related to the three similar fires last week. But all of those fires were in the same general area of San Jose.

Fire investigators believe all fires are arson, but no arrests have been made.
