The CHP had to perform an unusual rescue overnight after a man literally got stuck in the mud.
A 52-year-old Santa Rosa resident called 911 after he says he got stranded while on a late-night hike near Santa Rosa.
He ended up waist deep in mud and weeds near Ludwig Avenue and Llano Road at about 10 p.m.
He had a very low-tech method of getting there, but it took a high-tech search to get him out of the mess. The Sonoma County Sheriff's determined they could not reach him by land or foot so they called in air support.
The CHP chopper spotted the stuck man and used a hover move to pull him out.
The man was cold but otherwise unhurt.
