Student Arrested For Allegedly Wearing Camouflage, Gas Mask to School

A Mountain View High student is arrested for unfunny "prank"

A Mountain View student's apparent prank has landed him in police custody.

At 8:17 a.m. on Thursday, police said they received calls from Mountain View High School reporting someone on campus dressed all in camouflage and wearing a gas mask. All of Mountain View's police units -- plus some from Los Altos -- were dispatched to the scene.

Cops said they set up a perimeter around the school and "saturated" the neighborhood, looking for the man in fatigues.

But as it turned out, the man in question was sitting in class. In schoool, Christopher Egerton, 18, admitted to being the one who dressed up in combat gear as a "prank," according to police.

He was arrested for causing a disturbance, police reported.
