Students on Alert Following Report of Rape at De Anza Bathroom

Foothill-De Anza Community College police in Cupertino and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department are investigating a sexual assault report where a student reported being raped in the women's bathroom.

The chief of the college police department told NBC Bay Area the agency knows who the alleged suspect is - a student - and plan to arrest him shortly.

The female student reported the rape to police on Wednesday, stating that the alleged assault took place in the Media Learning Center on Monday between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The student knows her alleged attacker, police said, which is how they were able to track him down so quickly.

"Things like this don't happen around here," employee Kim Winn said. "Normally it's a peaceful place."
