Robber Demands Cash After Ordering Subway Sandwich

Robbery follows sandwich order

A Subway restaurant customer is wanted by police for following up a sandwich order with a harsher demand: All money in the cash register.

The Subway at the Rose Garden Shopping Center at 730 Camino Ramon in Danville was robbed shortly before 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa Times.

A man ordered food and then took a handgun out from his backpack and demanded cash. He left on a bicycle, the newspaper reported.

A few hours before, a man matching the suspect description reportedly tried to rob a San Ramon recycling center, according to reports.

In that incident a man with a backpack flashed a gun, demanded money and walked out without incident when he was told the recycling center had vouchers and no cash.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man in his early 20s, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 130 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, plaid shorts and a black hat.
