Spotty Showers Dot Bay Area, High Surf Advisory Remains in Effect

Widespread rain is moving its way out of the Bay Area and making way for spotty showers and overcast skies Sunday.

A few on-and-off showers are likely Sunday morning with a slight chance of thunderstorms, some of which may produce small hail, and highs across the Bay Area's nine counties are expected to settle in the lower 60s.

Windy conditions that brought down tree limbs Saturday will calm down, but a high surf advisory will be in effect until 3 p.m. Swells could top out anywhere between 13 and 15 feet.

Over in the Sierra Nevada, a winter weather advisory is also in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday. Elevations above 6,000 feet could gather six to 12 inches of snow while higher peaks soaring above 7,500 feet could pick up one to two feet of snowfall.

Precipitation amounts back in the Bay Area are ranging anywhere from just trace amounts to a few inches in some spots. Portions of the North Bay have tallied one to three inches of rain since the latest storm made landfall while parts of the South Bay have registered less than one-half inch of rain.

Those numbers could receive a boost courtesy of isolated showers Sunday and possibly Monday.

Sunday night will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Lows will be in the 50s. South winds will reach 5 to 10 mph before becoming northwest after midnight.

Monday will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers in the morning. Highs will be in the lower 60s. Northwest winds will reach 10 to 20 mph.
