Sunnyvale Authorities Arrest Two Suspects

Two men had been taken into custody, and stolen items were found in a neighbor's driveway.

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers began searching a neighborhood near city hall early Monday and ended up arresting two suspects.

By 6:30 a.m., two men had been taken into custody, but officers had not released their identities. Stolen items, however, were discovered in a neighbor's driveway.

One of the suspects had been treated by an ambulance after he was possibly bitten by a dog from the K-9 unit.

Department spokesman Jeffrey Pleque said officers responded to a home on Waverly Street, near Florence Street and Washington Avenue about 4 a.m., after hearing reports of two suspicious men possibly trying to break into a home there. By 6:30 a.m., several blocks in the area had been closed off because of the search.

Authorities said they thought the men could possibly be connected to other home invasions that have taken place near by over the past few days.

Sunnyvale has called for help from police in Los Altos, Mountain View and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
