Sunset Magazine Moves to Oakland's Jack London Square

After 50 years in an iconic building in leafy Menlo Park, the quintessential “Western living” Sunset Magazine is moving to Oakland’s Jack London Square.

Editor-in-chief Peggy Northrop announced the “We’re moving” post on Tuesday, explaining that the move was driven by the overwhelming trend of people to choose urban life over the suburbs.

"Though we will all miss the gorgeous campus and gardens we have called home for so long, the move is consistent with Sunset’s longtime mission to reflect our readers’ lives and aspirations," she wrote.

The magazine will be headquartered at 55 Harrison Street, near the Ferry Building.

The last time the magazine moved was from San Francisco to the Peninsula in 1951.
