BART riders can now surf the web under the bay.

Commuters on BART will now be able to surf to their hearts' content during the trip under the bay. That's because BART expanded wireless internet access service into the Transbay Tube as part of an agreement between AT&T, Sprint/Nextel and Verizon.

Passengers traveling between San Francisco and Oakland under the tube will now have continuous wireless access from the West Oakland station all the way to Balboa Park.

A BART spokesman says the best part of the new service is that wireless providers, not BART riders, are footing the bill.
